Job Training

Nevada Partners refers eligible candidates to training courses in various industries and determines whether the candidates can qualify for financial assistance.

On-the-Job Training

Candidates can receive on-the-job training (OJT), gaining the skills necessary for a productive job performance while being paid for working. OJTs are funded by Workforce Connections under the Workforce Investment Act and administered by Nevada Partners. Employers can be reimbursed anywhere from 50 to 90 percent of the wage rate, depending on the size of the company.

A Nevada Partners staffing consultant meets with the employer to discuss specific training needs, job requirements, and expected outcomes for the OJT program. They then design a training curriculum, detailing the skills, schedule, and training goals for the position. Upon agreement, the employer and Nevada Partners sign a standard contract. Once hired, the OJT participant becomes an employee of the company, subject to the same standards and benefits accorded other employees.

Workshops and Classes

Customer Service: Students learn how to provide exceptional guest service, meeting the needs of their guests, co-workers, and employer.

Employability: This class provides a thorough understanding of the tools and skills needed to successfully pursue, gain, and retain employment. Topics include career planning, conflict resolution, proper grooming and hygiene, communication and interpersonal skills, and other workplace concerns.

Work Readiness: In this workshop, participants learn how to complete resumes and applications and how to successfully interview for a job.
